Hole 12 (The Beeches) - 356 Yards, Par 4

Pro's Tips

A relatively short Par 4 with a picturesque green, and a tough approach. The 12th is one of only two bunker-less holes at Retford.

The right-to-left sloping fairway can kick weaker tee shots into the trees. Very long drives can get close, but don't try too hard, as the uphill slope towards the green will cut you short anyway. Very long drives that fade right will find trouble in "Scotland."

A well-placed tee shot opens up an excellent view of the green, which is our smallest, and is relatively flat despite being perched on the side of a hill. Your approach may be complicated by the sloping fairway, which can leave you with a downhill lie, or place the ball well above your feet. Or both!

Missing the green typically leaves a tricky chip, up or down a steep slope. But if your approach game is working well and you can land on target, a birdie opportunity awaits.
