For the ladies, on Tuesday 10 July, the Grannies’ and non-Grannies’ trophies were up for grabs in the 6th stableford competition of the season. Barbara Burton had a very consistent round, shooting 36 points and taking the Grannies’ trophy, and reducing her handicap to 17. Sheila Robinson just missed out on the trophy through count back, after having an equal score of 36 points and reducing her handicap to 27. Anne Denny took third place with 34 points. The non-Grannies’ trophy went to fourth placed Cynthia Herrington who scored 33 points.
The Seniors' team turned out at Carholme eager to improve on the 3-3 tie at home back in April. This was not to be and for the second time this year, the result was a 3-3 tie.
Retford’s Silver League team hasn’t had the best of starts to the season with three loses in the first three matches but they managed a 4 - 3 win at home to Rushcliffe on Friday. The team have fought hard to stay in the first division for the last three seasons and once again a Herculean effort is needed if relegation is to be avoided.
