The Club:

Founded in 1920, Retford Golf club is first and foremost a member’s club with a strong membership.   Its  beautiful park and woodland course has been testing golfers of all levels over the decades.

The Clubhouse is modern with an excellent bar, dining and changing facilities designed to cater for all requirements, its popularity backed up by a busy itinerary including a variety of member events, golf societies, corporate golf days, and wakes, all of which ensure we always have a busy calendar.

We also have a great team of experienced golf professionals to provide teaching for all levels, complemented by a well-stocked pro shop and practice facilities.

The Role:

For the first time, Retford Golf Club is seeking an experienced general manager with a high level of commercial acumen.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic individual who has the drive and passion to reach new standards of excellence in the management and presentation of our Club. This is an exciting period in the club’s development with significant recent investment in both the course and clubhouse facilities planned,.

The successful candidate will demonstrate high levels of management skills, be an excellent communicator, a leader and influencer and will hold the relevant qualifications.

The Position:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, our future General Manager will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and oversight of all aspects of the Club, working in conjunction with a well-versed management team and supporting the Club committees.

This will include but not be limited to the management of all staff, finances, administration, marketing, operations (on and off the course) and IT systems, whilst ensuring customer satisfaction and revenues are maximized.

The successful candidate will also help the Board establish appropriate budgets, deliver its strategic goals, and ensure associated projects are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with approved spending.

The ideal candidate should possess:

• Exemplary customer facing skills.
• Excellent golf and golf management skills
• Demonstratable excellence in hospitality management.
• Sound finance and administration skills.
• Experienced in strategic, financial, and operational leadership.
• Ability to recognise and implement marketing campaigns, using all forms of social media.
• IT systems and application skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage your own time, inside and outside of normal office hours.
• Strong written and verbal English, with the ability to write reports.

Our men's scratch team, playing in Division 3 of the Nottinghamshire Golf Union, have won all 6 of their matches so far this year.  With 2 rounds still to play, they are already guaranteed promotion to the Second Division.

New Years Day Captains Drive-off

A red letter day as the Club welcomed our new Captains and Vice Captains in their traditional "Drive In".

Bright sunshine, a big breakfast and a near full clubhouse said thank you to the 2022 Captains, Mary Saddington and Mike Mahony, for all their hard work over the last two years.

We welcome Anna Avery as 2023 Lady Captain and Ros Waterhouse as her Vice-Captain and David Halford Gents Captain and his Vice-Captain John Flavell.

The Captains narrowly beat the Vice Captains in a close-fought match.  The winner of the Longest Drive lottery prize was Ian Purdy.
